Ministry at Vellore District
In August 1995 – A Tribal Children Home was started at Kaniyambadi, near Vellore to educate the Tribal Children. The mission has provided free boarding and lodging and has sent the Tribal boys to the nearby school for education. To the Glory of God, the Tribal Children home has completed 27 years of educating the tribal boys with love of Jesus as well regular scholastic education.
The home started with just seven boys from the Yelagiri hills and Jawadhi hills in Tamil Nadu. The home was in a rented place. Year by year the strength grew up to 75 boys. We had to move to a larger place. By the grace of God, the mission was able to purchase a land and construct a home in Kaniayambadi for the boys of the Jawadhi hills.
Since the Tribal Children Home is registered under the JJ Act, the mission cannot house more than 28 boys per academic year.
The boys are giving free boarding and lodging and are sent to the nearby government schools for their education. Apart from boarding and lodging they are given vocational training in gardening and basket weaving.
During Christmas the boys are given a set of dress and the parents and their siblings are given a gift and treated to a sumptuous Christmas lunch. Special meals are provided to the children when donation is received from friends who want to celebrate their birthday, wedding anniversary and in remembrance days.
